Four Nations Cup

The Gibraltar Football Association were in action in May 2008, when they travelled to north Wales for the Four Nations Tournament, hosted by The Football Association of Wales.

The matches were played in three grounds, Belle Vue, Rhyl, Llanelian Road, Colwyn Bay, and Park Hall, Oswestry.

Gibraltar did not participate in last year’s tournament held in Scotland which resulted in a win for England.

The Gibraltar Squad was managed by Mr Albert Buhagiar.

Fixtures as follows:

Tuesday 20 May 2008

Wales v Scotland – Belle Vue Park, Rhyl – Kick Off: 7pm
England v Gibraltar – Llanelian Road, Colwyn Bay – Kick Off: 7pm

Thursday 22 May 2008

Saturday 24 May 2008

Gibraltar v Scotland – Park Hall, Oswestry (TNS FC) – Kick Off: 2pm

Gibraltar played very well throughout the tournament losing only by a single goal to England. This shows that the GFA can compete at this level and hopefully can only go from strength to strength by taking part in such tournaments. England were the eventual winners winning all games in the tournament.

Well done GFA!

Scores as follows:

Wales 1 Scotland 1
England 1 Gibraltar 0
Wales 6 Gibraltar 2
England 1 Scotland 0
Wales 0 England 3
